Jason, we hardly knew ye...

Bloody-Disgusting reports that the Platinum Dunes-produced Friday the 13th sequel- prequel- remakequel- reimaginequel that was due out later this year has been put on an indefinite hold due to "rights issues". Sigh. Doesn't Jason belong to all of us at this point? Or is it that no man can own Jason? He lives by his own rules and marches to the beat of a very different drummer. He's not a man, he's a force!

How sad...after being hacked up, electrocuted, blown up, shot into space, reborn, sent to hell, spending time as a black-goo-oozing alien penis monster and battling to the end with Freddy Krueger yet still coming back for more, Jason Voorhees may at last be brought down by the US legal system's red tape.

To be honest, perhaps it's for the best that Jason sits out the horror remake craze...

Now if only some "rights issues" would keep Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell from remaking Evil Dead as J-Horror...

*shudder*

Just like the time they tried to get Michael Myers on a Wayne's World sketch on SNL...those were the days.

Jason has met his match...and it's an attorney?

That really stinks. Believe it or not I was really looking forward to the prequel. I actually wrote a story about the origins of Jason and Camp Crystal Lake years ago.

That's something I would pay to see.

I can't say I'm terribly disappointed to hear this news . . .

I would love to see a prequel. You know see Jasons mom before she went completely nuts. Well she was probably always a little nuts.

you know, i'm kinda glad about this. the should make a straight, no gimmicks friday sequel that takes place after f v j. i just love when those kids go into the woods, smoke dope, fuck each other, & jason shows up.
Plus, Fuck Michael Bay . . . hard . . . with a broken stick.

i know, i'm bitter.
and drunk.

I'm so not into this prequel bandwangon and since I seem to just love these movies, I'm pretty happy to this attempt get dumped (well at least for now). Jason in space worked for me, but the story of a kid gone mad (at 5 no less), is, how you say, tre stoopid!
