FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

like, stuff and stuff

I have nothing pertinent to address today, so I figured I'd use this opportunity to show you some stuff. WOW CAN YOU FEEL THE EXCITEMENT?

When I'm not writing for Final Girl or doing noble things for The Children, I enjoy engaging in various hobbies, such as pointing out old people on the street or painting. The former is something we must do together live and in person, but as to the latter, well, I can show you the fruits of my labors right here and now! WOW CAN YOU FEEL THE EXCITEMENT? Here's some paintings I done did- all are acrylics on 12" x 12" canvas. For you trivia nuts out there, '12" x 12" ' is also known as a "square".

That dingy yellow-looking color is actually white...it's Monday and I'm far too lazy to tweak these photos in PhotoShop. Anyway, I think Christopher Lee is my favorite.

In other WOW CAN YOU FEEL THE EXCITEMENT? news...

SIIIIIGH. I have no idea what I'll do with it or how long it will last, but there you go. Make with the addening!

I love the stormtrooper

They're all pretty great though. But...well, I am who I am...and I love the look of the Stormtroopers. Great job on all of them!

Very well done Stacie. You have a lot more talent than I have when it comes to painting. Give me a square and it would be....well, a square still. Keep up the great work!

Awesome paintings!
What's the fourth painting between the Storm Trooper and Jason?

I added you on myspace. Although I'm not much of a myspace person myself.

Love these paintings!

Thanks very much, y'all. Any suggestions for subject matter are welcome as well!

Sarah, that 4th painting is the killer's eye from the original Black Christmas. Glad I stumped ya!

I love the Saw one. If i had money..I'd make an offer :)

Lovin' the Jason one. Nice work all around. And, leave the poor old folk alone, would ya?! Ha.

Love the Black Christmas one, would hang it in my house just to see who would figure it out!

You had me at Nosferatu. Very cool stuff. You selling them? If so, zip me an e-mail...

And I agree, I think Christopher Lee is the most accomplished. But the Jason one might be the most striking.

(And I love the Karloff Frankenstein, too.)

Frank is AWESOME!!!

(Chris Lee's pretty sweet too)

Frank looks so lonely though! He should have a wife around to keep him company!

(i.e. Do the Bride of Frank too!)

I would easily pay $100 and a freshly baked cherry pie for the Frankenstein. That's not me putting a true value on your art -- it's literally my limit for spending on any one object.

Love how you captured Karloff's look of mayhem/merriment. A suggestion for your next batch: shaved head Corey Feldman from Friday the 13th IV.

You guys rock!

1) Sure, these are totally for sale. For how much, I have no clue. :D I can do commissions also...if you're thinking "I'd love a painting of my Great Aunt Doris in that style, but orange and white!", well, it can be done. Anyone who's interested can toss an email my way!

2) Bride of Frankenstein...YES! Why didn't I think of that? Elsa Lanchester all big-haired-n-bug-eyed is one of my favorite horror images ever.

3) Feldman in Part 4 is a GREAT IDEA!

Dang. Y'all are, like, inspirin' an' shit.

Well, I have no display space, I'm afraid, so money issues aside I couldn't commission anything... but if I did, what I would definitely go for Rudolf Klein-Rogge as he was in Testament of Dr. Mabuse, staring at the camera. (Though, come to think of it, Klein-Rogge's role in Metropolis is even better-known and suitably horrific...)

Ooooh, nice. :D I love the SW one, too.

The Nosferatu is my fave ... nice work!

Okay, you were teetering on the edge for a while there, but now it's official--you rock TOO hard.

Quit hogging all the rock, rock-hogger.

Oh my. I would totally pay you real, cash money for one of those. Seriously. The Nosferatu and the Lee and the Frankenstein are my faves.

You are one talented girl, Girl.

Stacie Ponder said...

Real cash money?! That's my favorite kind! :D

"And, leave the poor old folk alone, would ya?!"

I'll have you know that I only point at them, Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers-style. I don't touch them or make rude comments.

I like to think I'm providing a service.

Ray said...

Yes, but do you also do the shriek?

kindertrauma said...

These are great! and while you are on the subject of Donald Sutherland pointing and screaming, I think that exact image should be your next painting!

Rick said...

These are all awesome! Excellent work. I'll give you real cash money for Jason. It'll look great in my new office. I'll shoot you an email.

Those are great! Since my geek genes have been active for a few years loner than my horror genes I'd say I'm partial to the Storm Trooper myself, but don't tell the paintings that. I don't want them getting all jealous.

I was trying to think of some iconic someone with a moustache off the top of my head to suggest but I've failed epically. The only one coming to mind is the guy from "Prince of Darkness"

I myself can't paint. Last time I tried it went horribly wrong, I think there was a fire somehow....

What, no paintings of The Descent? I also love the Black Christmas image, but I would get nervous having a giant eyeball on the wall staring down at me. I sent you an Add request, can we be BFF?

Aww, you're like talented and stuff. And here I thought all you could do was make me chuckle now and then, and you have to go and prove you've got like real skill and shit. What's the world coming to?!?!?!?

Honestly, the thought of taking over an entire wall of my apartment with these paintings makes my heart flutter. I'd never move again, I'd just sit there and stare lovingly upon them until I ate myself from the inside out.

Hey

The Christopher Lee one is fab! w/ just the touch of red. wunderbahr.

You need to do a Violet from Friday the 13th V one.

Goose said...

These are really good. Kudo's to the artist.

ARBOGAST said...

You should paint the fat zombie who falls into the penny pond in DAWN OF THE DEAD. And damnit, if I didn't have so many illegitimate children to support I'd be out-bidding Bill right out of his Bugle Boy jeans.
