FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

There's a particularly cracked-out column by yours truly over at AMC today, talking about...err...imaginary TV shows for horror icons. Or something like that. Read, comment, recommend, read and comment and recommend! If we all band together, I'm sure The Leatherface Show can become a reality. Let's dare to dream, kids!

Providing further proof that he is the man, Arbogast has a wonderful post today suggesting that all you Californians vote A BIG FUCKING FAT NO on Proposition 8 come election time. For those of you not in the know, that's the proposed amendment that would ban gay marriage. I'm not one to blog about politics, but you know...I'm pretty sure gay marriage won't 1) affect or "demean" the marriages of heterosexual couples, and 2) bring about the end of the world...unless, of course, Alucarda is one of the brides. That might very well signal the end of times, but that's got all to do with her Beelzebubbin' ways, not her lesbionics!

Vote NO for the lesbian vampires of the world! Vote NO for the dads in Sleepaway Camp! Vote NO for Michael Myers and Dr Loomis!

Vote NO because it's the right thing to do.

In fact, I think a Night of the Living Dead / America's Next Top Model hybrid show sounds like a dream come true

I'd watch it.

I think many TV shows would be so much more enjoyable if a few zombies were added to the mix...

What, no shout out to Poltergeist: The Legacy?

Thanks for the good word on Prop 8. I live in delaware, but I like the idea that my boyfriend and I *could* elope to California if we wanted.

I couldn't agree more. My state (Arkansas) will be the 50th to vote it in by the way, but say NO for Frodo and Sam!

The idiots here don't even feel same sex households should be able to adopt needy kids. Bigotry is a sad state.

Hey Stacie,

Long time, first time....you know the drill. Anyway, I just wanted share a couple of things:

1)I love your blog. I've been lurking for months and months but haven't commented because I can't bring the awesome that this blog deserves. So there's that.

1A)Before I discovered Final Girl I thought I was the only person in the world who had ever seen Killer Workout (scared the mother lovin' shit outta me. What? I was 8! Cut me some slack!). I'm glad to see that its genius has been experienced and enjoyed by others.

2) So so so glad to hear you speak out against Prop 8. I live here in Cali and it's a pretty hot topic around these parts. Even had a guy come to the door drumming up signatures in favor of it! Couldn't believe it! Talk about audacity. (My wife and I told him to kick rocks, and to kindly never knock on our door again. Ever.) Bigotry and hate have no place in politics and/or law.

3)OMG I need one of your paintings. Ass kickin'. That is all.

Sheesh, sorry for the novel. Please keep doing what you do. I'll keep reading if you keep writing.

Thanks.

yeah, that's a big fat fucking NO on Prop 8.

i'd argue that losing your house and/or your job due to a shitty economy is A LOT more harmful to the family unit than whether the two guys down the street are hitched.

Hmm, has there been Dr. Loomis/Michael Myers slash on the internet yet?

I also agree with cracker. One of the reasons I'm Pro-Life is that there are couples that can't conceive on their own, and there's plenty of same sex couples that want to raise children. I'm all for adoption as long as these children are raised by a loving family, no matter what the family unit is comprised of.

I must see America's Next Top Undead Model immediately. Imagine the hilarity of the purging half of their binging and purging sessions! And I don't think any of us have truly lived until we've seen a zombie smile with her eyes.

same sex marriage has been happening here in canada for a little while now and so far the nation hasn't imploded. though i'm still unmarried myself, i fail to see why it hasn't been made legal across the board every where. progress... moves... slowly...

by they way, stacie, due to that damn picture of the cute toothy slug you've got posted on your site, i've ordered my very own dvd copy of 'slugs'. i've never seen the flick, but i can't wait to. damn it, is there no limit to my dvd-ordering?!

Is it just me or are these propositions/voter proposals just needlessly confusing? If you are in favor of a gay/lesbian couple being able to marry, you vote NO, and if you are against it you vote YES. Only in America...

In another exciting and related note, Google just officially came out against Proposition 8.

Yes. I mean, no!

How about "Vote no for every single frame of Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge?"

That movie is gayer than Liberace's tailor.
