awesome movie poster friday - the POLANSKI edition!

The imminent release of the Criterion edition of Repulsion means it's high time I gave Polanski an AMPF...one of the highest honors that could possibly be bestowed on a director.

Umm...it is, right?

The first poster, mind you, is from the Okaaaaaaay Department:

Polanski is the master. Face it apart from Hitchcock no-one in the thriller genre has been more innovative and subsequently ripped-off.

Even REPULSION alone invented more thriller cliches than any movie ever made.

It always brings a tear to my eye when-ever i see the caption "to sharon" appear at the beginning of polanski`s 1978 masterwork "TESS", i think its an incredible moment.

The Polish Rosemary posters are some of my favorites ever.

I've never seen that first Fearless Vampire Killers one, the one with the little cartoon vamp and busty lady - that's some funny shit right there.

And I second everything Cash said.

Holy crap I'm totally gonna do that next month. I'm gonna watch The Odd Couple and then Rosemary's Baby back to back to see how that works. I will probably try this with a few other films. Thanks, Stacie!

Somebody at Paramount's distribution arm had a good laugh putting that double feature together...

Also good together: The Fortune Cookie and Helter Skelter.

Tanz!!!!!!

It was made into a popular musical...except when it made its way to the states, the people producing it thought that people wanted to laugh (Even though it was already funny) and they changed it completely. I've found the filmed German version on YouTube here-

The other thing is, Polanski said he was considering making that version as a movie, but has now decided to make a spy thriller instead. :(

However, if he or someone else gets around to it, they'd better have Josh Groban as Alfred. :D

Ghostella Complaint - So I wanted to watch Ghostella's Haunted Tomb because I heard it was awesome so I went to AfterEllen and clicked the play button. It had to buffer, because I'm not rich enough to afford the best speed out there (although I thought mine was decently fast). I wasn't concerned. "I'll just replay it after it buffers," I told myself. Imagine my frustration when I realized that those players' version of replaying involves BUFFERING THE ENTIRE THING FROM SCRATCH. So what gives, only the coolest people with the best internet connections are allowed to watch these movies or what? That's the only site the movies are on, and to make matters worse over the past few days the movies will not play AT ALL. It goes connecting, intializing media, back and forth a few times, then it just stops like a deer in headlights. I know you're not responsible for that websites shoddy equipment Ponder but is there any way to watch these movies?

That red poster is freakin' me out! I think it's the fleshy thighs that're bothering me, and not bothering in a nice way. More like in a 'just saw my grammy starkers!' kinda way. Ewww.

The poster below that with Woody's ex all in the buffers, well, that looks like a 'fun' movie, and that's just false advertising. Cuz makin' love to the devil just ain't a fun time.

I love the poster segments, Stacie. True Art movie posters are such a lost...well, uh, art...
