talkin' 'bout mah generation

There are a number of horror films that I watched when I was a very impressionable age, and they helped mold me into the fan I am. I list a bunch of them over at AMC today...so read and weigh in what what made you YOU. Bad movies are just as valid as good ones!

Ah, my youth. Believe me, I love living in an age of instant access. A zillion channels on the TV, a DVR, DVD player, streaming movies, blah blah blah. I do miss the charm of something like Creature Double Feature, though...it helped make movies that much more special. Movie Loft, the Sunday Movie at Noon, and the like were events to look forward to- and there weren't many other choices available, so you'd watch whatever flick came on. It was definitely an education. And really, how awesome is this?

If there was any mystery as to why I am the way I am, I'm sure that 30 seconds would solve it!

I guess a lot of local TV stations had similar promos/openings to their double feature horror shows.

Growing up in the 70's, there was a local station here in NY that had a program called "Chiller" and it was an animated hand (claymation?) coming out of a grave and slowly grabbing each letter in the word Chiller. And and ominous male voice croaking the word as well.

I loved it.

I love that there's 5 fingers and a thumb! I'm wondering why I don't remember that, as I was a huge fan of 11 Alive!

PIX was the shit.

I remember as a kid, I used to pore over the TV guide, looking for movies - cuz that's the only way you could see one after it left the theater. I remember thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool if I could see any movie I wanted, any time. But that'll never happen. It's impossible." The age of instant access - I never saw it comin'...

Great stuff. I picked up 450 minutes of Ultra-Man goodness for my 9-year-old daughter as a Christmas present for $5 at the Target discount bin the other day. She WILL grow up knowing the difference between Godzilla and Gamera. She will know who Vincent Price is beyond just "Edward Scissorhands." She will understand the Zombie Rules. And we'll get around to Nosferatu, Hill House, and much, much more.
