The Grudge? Grudge 2? Grudge 3 - The Search for Curly's Gold?

The Grudge

Aye, 'tis Ju-On. Not sure if The Grudge ends the same, as I've yet to see it.

"...Curly's Gold" made me laugh way more than it probably should have!

Isn't there about 12 JU-ON films by now? All of them sucking total ass?

Sorry Shimuzu, but you're a hack.

CashBailey said...

Haven't they made, like, 12 of these JU-ON films?

And they're still no closer to being any GOOD.

There are indeed many. I've only seen the first and I rather liked it, but I'm not salivating over watching the sequels...although the trailers for...what are they called? Ju-On Black and Ju-On White?...from last year or whenever looked pretty good.

Shimizu's JU-ON:The Grudge 2 (the sequel to the film version) is actually pretty interesting-he plays with time and space/rubber reality there in a very 80s Wes Craven kind of way.

But truthfully, I don't think any of them were as effective as the original V-Cinema version.

JU-ON 2: Electric Grudgealoo is a movie waiting to happen.

^but it still couldn't measure up to Ju On: Megalodon.

I'd say the filmed version (aka the third one total) is a near-masterpiece.

Ju-On: THE GRUDGE 2 puts Shimizu on an upper tier of filmmaking.

Though no one besides me has ever commented about the beauty of the final scene, I think it holds its own with some of the moments by Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, etc.

I actually think that with Marebito and Reincarnation, Shimizu-san left his Ju-on movies in the dust.

Especially Marebito. That movie fucking rules.

Merebito is an odd film. Not sure if I'd call it a great movie but it definitely left a mark on me.
