Eclipse Babies are here!

YOU GUYS. Do you know what came out on DVD this week? Umm, only one of the best ever movies about killer kids: Bloody Birthday, duh. I just thought you should know.

SO YOU CAN WATCH IT.

So it's good, you're trying to say? what about the other two that came out on the same label, THE BABY and NIGHTMARES? They can't all be good, I know you love killer kids, who doesn't? but what about grown men infantilized, who likes that? No one, except maybe some Japanese subway lecher and John Waters.

Dude, I've had that on DVD for like two years. It's not a terrible transfer either. Does this have some groovy features or something?

Is that Jim Henson's Eclipse Babies? Because that would be AWESOME!

I've never commented, but I read your blog as part of my Sunday ritual..the way some read the morning paper.

I figured the time was right though, because it just wouldn't be right for a post about one of my favorite 80's slashers EVER to go without a single comment.

When I was younger, I found this movie particularly scary- the horny teens who thought it wise to get freaky in an open grave, the lesson about how dangerous it is to play inside old broken refrigerators, terrifying children of the corn Curtis & Debbie (and that 3rd one that doesn't really do anything)...and Julie Brown dancing topless to really bad disco (which is still kind of disturbing).
I have the original DVD release, but I'd be tempted to re-buy if the quality is noticeably improved.

Now that I got that out of my system- just wanted to say that I love your blog more than money- so keep up the good work. :)

Oh- btw, if ever you're at a loss for a moderately obscure so bad it's amazing b-slasher to blog about, might I suggest Funeral Home or Class Reunion Massacre? They're horrible, yes, but dear to my heart- and I'd love to read your commentary on either of them.

No birthday is ever complete without the three baddest seeds of the '80s. I adore this film. I adore it so...

Well, it got a new release. I've only had the VHS.

I just watched Bloody Birthday last week for a review and absolutely loved it! It's a fun Slasher/killer kids film and a solid homage to horror and Slasher cinema of the time.

As for extras, there is a pretty long (50-minutes, maybe?)audio interview with the director on the DVD as well as a quick look at the Slasher genre by Adam Rockoff of Going to Pieces fame.

And did you know it was going to be on TCM this Friday night??!?!?!?!

It is, and my Tivo will be recording this gem...

A definite gem of a film. I love those three little bastards. And Julie Brown getting shot with an arrow is a bonus.

At first, I thought this said "Eclipse BARBIES" (like some sort of creepy Mattel/Twilight tie-in)--actually, that would be fucking hysterical!
